I was about 5 and lived in a logging camp. Had no effect on me. Not too sure it had much effect on the town near us either, since it was basically a company town, and they tended to supply things like sports facilities and a hospital on the theory that a contented workforce was a stable workforce. Even the phone system in the original townsite ran through the company switch board for decades. All that was long before socialism became fashionable and everything had to be done by government employees. Also did some weird things, like have a semi pro ball team and hockey team on the payroll. They hired people for their sports skills and gave them a job in the pulp mill so they qualified as amateur. Probably illegal even then, but all the mill towns did it so it came out a wash.

So, your point is that only landowners should have rights, cuz that's how it was in the good ol' days, right?

There’s no obvious reason why this particular overpass — one of more than one dozen Toronto-area bridges over the 401 — has been made a target. It’s not in a central area. It’s not located near any Israeli consulates or diplomatic missions. It’s nowhere near the offices of any senior Canadian politicians.

But as noted by a growing chorus of local representatives and Jewish leaders, the country’s most sustained anti-Israel protest has set up shop in the heart of the Canadian Jewish community.

“There is no logic as to the choice of this location other than the large local Jewish population,” wrote Liberal member of Parliament Anthony Housefather in a Wednesday social media post that also questioned how the blockade “can still be happening.”
“This appears to me to be a refusal by the City of Toronto police to enforce existing laws,” he wrote.

It seems the city of Toronto is run by Hamas sympathizers. According to Rebel News, a Jewish run deli was firebombed and free palistine spray painted on the doors.

What does the Liberal/NDP appointed Anti-Islamophobia spokesperson “Amira Elghawaby” have to say about this?
This is the only thing I can find that’s not half a year old or older, and only from the CBC.

Addressing Parliament in October, following a series of antisemitic crimes committed against Canadian Jews in the aftermath of Hamas’s attack against Israel, Trudeau made sure to praise the “shared values” we all supposedly have.

“Let us remember who we are as Canadians and what we stand for here and around the world: respect for everyone’s rights and freedoms and the rule of law; respect for different languages, ethnicities and religions; respect for human life; and respect for each other,” he said.

This isnt about Jews, its an attack on white people as a whole.

Cheering the protesters on. After all no muslims were hurt making this news cast.

In Toronto, the protesters’ tactics seem to get uglier the more they get what they want. When they (Protesters) began targeting Jewish-owned businesses, there was usually some fig-leaf justification on offer.

It’s not that restaurant chain Cafe Landwer CEO Nir Caspi is Jewish, you understand; it’s that he is too proud of his service in the Israel Defense Forces.

It’s not that espresso-bar chain Aroma is owned by Jews, heavens no; it’s that it has a location in Ma’ale Adumim, an Israeli settlement in the West Bank.

It’s not that Indigo CEO Heather Reisman is Jewish, how dare you even suggest it; it’s that her HESEG Foundation for Lone Soldiers funds scholarships for non-Israelis who enlist in the IDF.

We didn’t mean to protest that Jewish daycare centre; we were trying to protest Chrystia Freeland’s constituency office across the street and, well, maybe some of us got lost.

Protesters have targeted Jewish Toronto City Councillor Josh Matlow, whose positions on Gaza and Israel could hardly be more balanced.

A Jewish-owned grocery store was firebombed, which is a sentence that should alarm every Canadian.

Peacefully, but still disturbingly, protesters have repeatedly occupied a highway overpass in Toronto that no one would choose for a demonstration other than to intimidate people entering a Jewish neighbourhood.

Toronto police have been taking it on the chin ever since Oct. 7 for what many see as an overly indulgent approach to the protesters. That has come to a head with respect to the aforementioned overpass: Whenever a critical mass of protesters assembles, police simply close it, citing an abundance of caution. Those who think police ought to clear the road were particularly incensed this past weekend when video emerged of police bringing hot coffee to protesters.

What the pro-Palestinian protesters want from Canada, the only things Canada can provide, they have already received: Official calls for a ceasefire, and expansive freedom to make their voices heard. The more these ugly demonstrations continue, the more their organizers risk being seen as protesting Canadian society, Canadian everyday life, in general.

Beep beep.
Honk honk.
Something about "racists, homophobes, transphobes, violence, spewing hate, harassing other Canadians, unacceptable views, etc…oh & misogynists, yeah…them” if I remember 1/2 assed correctly…& then mirrored by mini-pm, before they both came out of the closet.
Oh yeah, & fringe minority. Somehow I can’t see that term being used in this set of circumstances.

A peaceful protest, even one clearly meant to harass a specific group of people, is still a peaceful protest (minus the gunfire aimed at Jewish elementary schools & day cares, & the burning of that delicatessen, etc…).

Footage from her home security camera shows a dark car driving up to the house at 3:27 a.m. Two figures in masks, gloves and hoods hop out, quickly and calmly break the Toyota’s windows, then return to their vehicle for a tool that they use to puncture the tires before driving away. The crime takes less than a minute.
A Ukrainian immigrant is in shock after she awoke Tuesday morning to find her car vandalized, its windows broken and its tires punctured. The vandals did not attempt to take anything. The Toyota has a small Israeli flag sticker on the back bumper.

Well, that’ll teach her for being born in Ukraine and lived in Israel for 10 years before coming to Canada in 2000. You can run but you can’t hide!!

A media release says police are seeking at least three suspects, one of them the driver of a dark-coloured Jeep Grand Cherokee. “The Hate Crime Prevention Unit has been notified and a hate crime investigator is on the case,” the release notes. It also includes a link to the security camera video.

Adamov said that when Russia attacked Ukraine in 2022, she put a Ukrainian flag on her car in solidarity. “And it was absolutely no problem. But as soon as I identify myself as belonging to Israel, here is the problem.”

She added that it was difficult to put her feelings into words. “It’s hard to verbalize my feelings, my fear. And I’ve never been a fearful person. I’ve always stood for the right thing on the right side of history. But today I am scared.

Maybe somebody will wait for me in the park when I’m walking the dog. Honestly I’m shaken. I don’t know how can we leave the house, how can we go somewhere. I don’t know how to live, how to breathe. We are in shock.”

So….goal achieved?

What would Amira Elghawaby, Trudeau’s Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia of Canada, have to say about this I wonder? I’ve no idea ‘cuz I can’t find anything recent from her.
