“This province has no place for bigotry and racism. We stand with the Muslim community throughout Canada on this sorrowful day of remembrance.”

So wrote David Eby, premier of the Canadian province of British Columbia and leader of the British Columbia New Democratic Party, on Saturday in a social media post, which linked to his statement for International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Some five hours after correcting the post, the premier apologized.

“Today a member of my team posted the wrong text with my statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day….so he apologized for someone else, almost Liberal like…or is that now NDP/Liberal like? Oh well. It was International Holocaust Remembrance Day, so it’s understandable on all fronts & counts, etc…
He subsequently deleted the post and penned a new one. “Today, people all over the world will be remembering the six million Jewish lives lost during the Holocaust, along with millions of others who were targeted because of their ethnicity, sexual identity, disability or political opposition to the Nazis,” he wrote.

“We stand together in opposing the deeply troubling rise of Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hatred in British Columbia,” he added.
Nothing about Armenians or Uhgars ?

A new toolkit circulated to York University teaching assistants instructs them to denounce Israel at every available opportunity, even when it has no apparent relevance to the subject being studied.

“Let us collectively divert this week’s tutorials to teaching on Palestinian liberation,” reads the 15-page document circulated by CUPE 3903, the union representing York’s contract and part-time faculty.

The document adds that tutorials should be diverted to condemnations of the “Zionist Israeli state” regardless of the course that the TA is supposed to be discussing.

So CUPE sets the curriculum at York . Interesting .

Announced Friday morning in a press release from the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA,) fourteen separate complaints were lodged against PSAC on Friday with the Canadian Human Rights Commission — alleging the union used the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks to commence a campaign “promoting unbalanced and biased views against Israel,” and creating what the complaint describes as a hostile environment for Jewish workers.

“The union’s role is to negotiate better employment and working conditions for the membership — I’m asserting that this union has exceeded its mandate significantly,” said Daniel Lublin, Founding Partner of Whitten & Lublin Employment Lawyers and one of two lawyers representing the complainants.

“The union’s agenda, which we say is an anti-Israel/anti-Jewish agenda, is not something that improves working conditions for the membership,” he told the National Post.

“We believe that the union has exceeded its mandate in delving into what’s obviously a very contentious political, religious and international issue that really isn’t related to why people pay union dues.”

Jewish members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) are taking their union to Canada’s human rights tribunal, accusing their leadership of creating a “culture of discrimination and harassment” in the wake of the Oct. 7 Israel terror attacks.
The complaint alleges that PSAC’s response to Oct. 7 was centred around condemning Israel in a way that was “harmful and offensive towards Jewish members” — particularly the 14 complainants, whom Lublin said represents a healthy cross-section of PSAC’s 230,000-strong membership.

The complaint also singles out an Oct. 28 PSAC webinar entitled “Solidarity with Palestine,” which reportedly used antisemitic tropes and claims of colonialism to delegitimize Israel’s right to exist.

Concordia and Carleton universities have apparently cancelled speaking engagements featuring Sami Hamdi, a British political commentator, over his comments celebrating Hamas atrocities during the terror group’s Oct. 7 attacks on Israel. Bunch of Islamophobic’s with their Islamophobic Islamophobia.

Hamdi spoke at Western University on Thursday and is scheduled to meet with students at the University of Toronto, Mississauga, on Sunday. Neither university’s Muslim Students Association responded to the National Post’s request for comment prior to publication.

At Carleton and Concordia, however, officials have cancelled his speeches. Ten days after the Oct. 7 atrocities, Hamdi spoke at an event where he told an audience to “celebrate the victory” of the Hamas massacre while holding back tears. “Allah has shown the world that no normalization can erase the Palestinian cause. When everybody thought it was finished, it is roaring. How many of you felt it in your hearts when you got the news that it happened? How many of you felt the euphoria? Allahu Akbari!” Etc…
Hamdi also argued that widespread accounts of sexual assault committed by Hamas on Oct. 7 were lies. “Netanyahu had to make a lie about rape,” the journalist said in his speech. (#’CuzJews)

Hamdi is in the midst of a multi-campus tour sponsored by the Canadian Muslim Public Affairs Council speaking about Palestinian advocacy. The group urged Carleton to reverse course, calling it a “shocking decision (that) smacks of bias and censorship against Palestinian voices.”

“Antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism, and discrimination of any kind have no place on our campus or anywhere in our society,” said Orchard (Ian Orchard, acting University of Toronto vice-president and University of Toronto Mississauga principal) in an emailed statement.

Apparently, dragging women in the streets of Gaza to show just how "brave" Hamas is and how wonderful they are means that Hamas is "good" & Israel is "bad" even tho' Israel doesn't even come close to the depravity of Hamas. We are in an upside down world, that's for sure!!

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – a group that participated in the Oct. 7 massacres – just issued a statement praising the cabinet resignation of B.C. MLA Selina Robinson. “The downfall of a minister biased towards the zionist entity in Canada is an important precedent,” wrote the terror group of Robinson, who is Jewish. The PFLP also happens to be the one with close and potentially direct ties to Samidoun, a Vancouver-based nonprofit that has been at the forefront of anti-Israel protest efforts, including those calling for Robinson’s ouster.

(Just before Christmas, Hamas offered a public thank you to Canada for backing a ceasefire that would effectively allow the terror group to remain in control of Gaza)

Police are investigating after Pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside of Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto on Monday evening, reportedly blocking access and chanting in support of Hamas.

Mount Sinai Hospital is deeply rooted in Toronto’s Jewish community. It was established in 1923 as a response to antisemitic sentiments and practices that restricted Jewish doctors and patients from many hospitals at the time.

“Targeting Mount Sinai Hospital to incite intifada against Israel and the Jewish people is flagrantly antisemitic and undermines the health and safety of the patients and medical professionals who work there,” Marco Mendicino, MP for Eglinton-Lawrence, posted on X. “The torrent of hatred against Jews and Jewish institutions must stop!”
…but…no “Islamophobia also?”…weird…he’s off the script. Amira Elghawaby have anything to say about this omission? No objection from the NDP over that omission? The Greens? Etc…?

It’s hard to imagine Monday’s rally outside Toronto’s Mount Sinai Hospital — in which pro-Palestinian demonstrators blocked the entrance, held signs glorifying terrorists and chanted in support of committing violence against Israelis — endearing anyone to the Palestinian cause. But it seems to have worked on Amira Elghawaby, Canada’s Islamophobia czar, who used the opportunity to excuse the protesters’ reprehensible actions and opine on geopolitical issues.

(On January 26, 2023, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appointed Amira Elghawaby as Canada's first Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia, & this is a four year term)

From Elghawaby, Canada’s “special representative on combating Islamophobia.” Taking to the social media platform formally known as Twitter on Tuesday, Elghawaby noted that blocking the entrance to a public hospital was “troubling,” but also criticized “the rush to label protesters as antisemitic and/or terrorist sympathizers.”

Never mind that they deliberately targeted an institution with Jewish roots. Never mind that signs could clearly be seen portraying terrorists as freedom fighters. And never mind that they were loudly chanting, “Long live the intefadeh,” a reference to the two Palestinian uprisings, in which hundreds of Israeli civilians were killed in suicide bombings and other terrorist attacks, many of which were committed by Hamas, the perpetrator of the Oct. 7 massacre.

You’d think that someone whose job is to combat hatred would be the first to denounce a hate-filled rally such as this, even if it was antisemitism being espoused, rather than Islamophobia

But according to Elghawaby, such displays should only be condemned “if police determine any action was motivated by hate.” (Which is a little hard to do since we can’t read minds, and highlights the folly of creating a separate class of crimes that are dependant on the thought processes of the perpetrators.)

What Elghawaby claims the “demonstrators were actually protesting” was the “indiscriminate killing of any and all innocent men, women and children.” Which is an interesting way to phrase it.

Yes, the number of Palestinians who have been killed in Gaza is far too high. But no, Israel is not indiscriminately killing innocent civilians. It is deliberately targeting Hamas terrorists, who are putting innocents at risk by embedding themselves in civilian areas and using civilian infrastructure for military purposes.

According to our Islamophobia czar, “Anyone who condemns one but not the other” — i.e., condemns antisemitic protests here at home but not Israel’s actions overseas — “is demonstrating to all of us how Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian racism operate to devalue the lives of those deemed less than human and unworthy of protections, including those afforded by international humanitarian law.”
The implication is that Israel is violating international law (which no one has been able to prove, because it’s not), and that anyone who supports the Jewish state in its war against Hamas — the terrorist group that indiscriminately slaughtered civilians and weaponized sexual violence on a mass scale on Oct. 7 and is still holding around 100 hostages who are being subjected to torture and rape — is somehow guilty of being a racist.

Part of Elghawaby’s mandate is to promote “public awareness and understanding about Muslim communities in Canada by reframing narratives.” It would seem as though she’s taken that directive to heart, reframing hate rallies as peaceful demonstrations and advocates of violence as victims of oppression.

When Trudeau appointed her, he said she would help fight “hatred in all its forms” and build “a country where everyone feels safe and respected.” Instead, she is excusing the actions of those who are espousing hatred and making Jews feel unsafe.

Perhaps her title should be changed to “special representative on promoting balkanization.” Or better yet, maybe we should get rid of a political position that was only ever intended to help Trudeau court a specific subset of voters.

Day after day, week after week, “protesters” under the cover of darkness — or behind masks — target Jewish coffee shops, schools, synagogues, hospitals and infrastructure in Jewish neighbourhoods, at will.

This time it was done to a Jewish MP who could one day be in cabinet and perhaps even prime minister.
Lanstman is on the opposition benches and not responsible for any of the government’s decisions. What she has been is supportive of all the efforts to bring home the hostages and call out the horrific terror that went down on Oct. 7. And she will continue to do that.
