Time to bump the thread. Early season power rankings are out with Winnipeg ranked 2nd on both 3DN and CFL.ca. Gag me with a spoon it ain't gonna happen. Calgary won't be finishing last either. As the unofficial CFL guy on Canadian Content let me set the record straight.

1) Montreal - they still have questions but middle linebacker is not one of them. Deserving of the ranking, Should be opening at home.

2) Toronto - Strong at all positions. Serious about winning. Go Argos.

3) B.C. - Areas of concern have been addressed. Lions are going to be a thing this year.

4) Edm - Viking warrior McLeod Bethel Thompson to the rescue. Strong core group coming back building on last year. Big years for Kevin Brown / Eugene Lewis

5) Calgary - Not done, not finished. Frigging referees. If Jake Maier can't, Matt Shiltz will. Many good pieces. Long history of success.

6) Hamilton - Balanced schedule will help. Bo Levi needs to have a healthy year. New coach. Still putting the team together.

7) Sask - Great Off Season. Spending money but not too smartly. Proof will be in the pudding.

8) Ottawa - Big question at QB. It is tough to be a REDBLACKS fan although they have signed some good players.

9) Winnipeg - Will need another big year form the Command Center. More chicken for the boss.

Personally hoping Hamilton made up the difference with Tim White with a bag of money left in the trunk of the rental car he was given to use. Call it a home town discount.

If one plays they should all get to play imo.

And then just when things are going so well some guys find a way to self destruct. Not saying it is easy to be Chad Kelly.

John Murphy has been there / done that before as well and should know better. Head down, mouth shut, coast through life but no.

Dickenson Bros together again. Good deal for Calgary IMO and Mom doesn't have to choose between the two any longer.

Kudos to John Hufnagel for all that he has done for the league as his era in Calgary Stampeder history winds down. I would have hired his son as minimum an assistant GM in Sask but maybe next time.

Do not like the idea of letting the Elks go private and think it is a knee jerk reaction to a couple of bad years. I do like the idea of listing them as a public corporation and having the market determine the value.

Biggest problem is always the city owned facilities that get squeezed and the ones that are there fighting for their good jobs.

Won't be surprised if Jamal Morrow ends up signing in Montreal to go along with Walter Fletcher. Antwi may have the most upside although not sure how they plan to use him being a National.

CFL would have benefitted more from holding the upcoming combine in Calgary where they could use the hype to drum up a little interest amongst their waning but still there fans.

Winnipeg has no attendance issues with fan interest level is as good as there is across the league. Flying northern First Nation community members in for games at government expense has been a good strategy. Grey Cup in 2025 should have been a good enough carrot to dangle for their fans.

Ottawa would also have been a better choice to build fan interest or Montreal to capitalize on the wave of interest built on the back of their Grey Cup victory.

Hearing 19 interested parties kicking tires on the sale of the Edmonton Elks.

Why would you not go public and let them all buy in? Make money and pay a dividend.

Hearing 20 interested parties in buying the Edmonton Elks. Seems odd that they want to sell it so badly.

They are going to dump it to a buddy imo who won't do any better dealing with the city than the Elks are doing. Big mistake to sell to a private party. Going public is a different game.

They missed the opportunity of a lifetime last time by not going with a name starting with Alberta. Would not have gone well with Calgary fans which would have been the plan all along.

Very, very quiet so far this year in Edmonton.

You did some signings. A new QB I believe.

Cool move be Shawn Lemon to retire while still under contract. He backed up the talk and showed everyone he was a player last season. Three time champ and in retrospect probably deserving of the Most Outstanding Defensive Player award he lost to Lorenzo Mauldin in 2022. Probably won't get into the H.O.F. but maybe should.
