When the Edward Story broke within the media in early June 2013, I instantly recalled a tune by Sting-Police, and rhymed "Every Call You Make". So, I altered the lyrics a bit and the tune was Produced/Arranged/Distributed and website up and running, within a mere 32 days and at an approximate cost of 25 hundred dollars, at Toronto, Ontario.

Can you give me the exact reasons why you prefer WordPress?
And all in all ----- what is the maximum amount of money you intend to pay in order to accomplish your website sales agenda?
Can you link me to a website which you think might be an example of what you would want?
Whatever you do, make damn certain that you have complete control over your domain name.
Buy the domain name yourself and then park it. Don't get held hostage by some web hosting company.

I hope you already found the right person to do this task, but as a suggestion by next time you needed to hire or you are looking for a person to do a job, it is better to look in yellow pages or freelancers sites and always ask for their sample work or portfolio. 
A lot of hosting site have do it yourself web design and domain registration. The only skill you need is the ability to cut and paste.
I use ibuilt.net they have good prices and good tach support and they are always updating their features.
I have been using them for more than 10 years. There are also a whole bunch of others to look at

It is astounding the subtle changes that Google and the Clowns are forcing website owners to do. A real money maker for web hosting companies and Google. They are demanding that Google Analytics be implemented and that no links to websites using http and not https allowed.
I retired this summer and enrolled in a two year web and mobile app development college program. I've had previous experience on the web (founded a fairly popular site in 2001 and sold it in 2013), now looking forward to expanding my knowledge as times have changed. (No, not looking to create any sites right now - am way too busy at school). It's always nice to connect with others in the industry.
There are a lot of online resources for this, with a wide ranging specialties depending on your needs or budget. And while you're at it, also start thinking about other marketing strategies you may ask from your contractor, like social media, email marketing, etc etc. Because if I were you, I'd like everything to be setup in one go so you won't have to deal with it again in the near future. And if you're thinking that your business is too small for these additional marketing strategies... think again. You have not written anything about the needs of the site. If not big, it’s quite possible in a couple of days without special knowledge to make yourself a working site on a WordPress.
Maybe hang around the local College and tap the guy with the lowest marks to see if he wants a way to up his grades and make a bit of cash. Needless to say it is a skill you should have unless you like spending money rather than saving it, your call.
Oh and while you're at it... make sure you ask your web guy to do videos too. Or find one that can do both for you. Videos are all the rage these days, even facebook has been filling our newsfeeds with those.
