THis is a problem for the ndp. If they don't do something here and continue to prop up the libs they're going to wind up with nothing to differentiate themselves next election. They are proving impotent on a lot of their traditional fronts and if they can't even "protect" public health care a lot of people will start to ask 'why bother, they just do what the liberals want.

They've done nothing on climate change, the conservatives of all people are eating their lunch with young people on the housing crisis and future opportunity, the libs already beat the 'tax the rich' drum and legalized weed, healthcare is one of their last big 'flagship' issues and if they appear to be useless there people will give up on them.

If they move a mm to the right of Trotsky theyll be Nazis.
LOL - i doubt THEY'D see it that way but true.

The problem is the libs rushed in and grabbed the leftist voters and left the ndp nowhere to go. They tried out lefting the left and that didn't work, they tried joining the libs without joining them and i don't think that's winning them points either, Now they're just spinning their wheels and they're going to run out of road a lot faster than they think.

NDP lost quite a few unions for support to the Liberals in the past 15 years. Unifor as an example.
True and the NPC orgs... sorry, PAC orgs ( :) ) set up by the unions have been largely shilling for the libs as well.

And why would they support the ndp if the ndp can't even protect health care worker's union jobs which should be a slam dunk.

CUPE is pretty much the only national union for a few healthcare works, the rest are provincial. Nurses are on their own in and the rest govt employee unions. Its tough to wrangle them province by province.

sure but you don't need to be a national union to want the feds to protect provincial union rights. THat's what the ndp is trying here, to make sure that any federal money is only spent on provincial union jobs and not private. So if they can't that's a blow to those unions, AND it's a message to other unions that the ndp can't even protect something that should be a slam dunk traditionally. It's definitely not a good look for them

Libs and NDP both fucked up dragging along unions by pushing covid mandates on healthcare. At first a couple unions didnt agree but caved to pressure. The protests that lead to truckers in Ottawa all started with nurses and healthcare workers who then quit in droves. Horrible news for the left but luckily the Bernier goofballs came along which gave a great cover up to losing 20% of healthcare workers. From there it snowballed into truckers which completely drowned out any healthcare voices.

Healthcare workers wont forget come next election.

Fun fact - research dpne after the election showed that the majority of the new support for the PPC came from GREEN supporters of all things. A full percent of the 5 and change they got voted green the election before. It was speculated that it was his opposition to mandates that drew them.
