I feel Canada is the sacrificial lamb or Jesus of sorts thanks to Mexicans self interests. Canada might as well forget NAFTA's all for one and one for all thinking and concentrate on a unalateral deal with King Trump like he wanted in the first place. We had global econamy from the start with the tariffs.

The free trade agreements were supposed to raise the standard of living from poor countries but instead are lowering it for the rich counties. Groups of countries working as one economic union start to lose their sovernty. We have to remember that America is our nabour "America is not our nation" Canada was paid for with our blood and our sweat and we must protect it.

What do you think?

America wanted out of NAFTA and Mexico and Canada were supposed to be unified but it sounds like Mexico are close to a deal with America.

Mexico's new Gov, needed to get the deal done to get out of the tariffs and move on to their agenda, Canada was stalling the process over it's progressive agenda. Not looking good for Freeman's demands now she will have no choice to either sign on or be frozen out of the agreement.

I would wait and see what happens prior to deciding.

It sure looks like Canada is getting shut out of NAFTA which is ironic seeing as it came into being in the first place when Canada and the US invited Mexico to join the free trade deal in the first place. Maybe, with an unstable regime colluding with another unstable regime, we would be wise to look elsewhere in the world for our long term trade relationships.

Canada can still snap up Cuba and South America as far as major trading partners, wait too long and they will buy the hardware to bring themselves into independence someplace else. They will not deals with anybody the US has under their thump and nobody can do it faster than we can as they have other commitments and they are still under US sanctions so we have to cut our cord or go down with them. (they not see us as being equals as they would gun down illegals coming from Canad yet want open borders if they get rid of some of the 'useless eaters' Canada could start 100 miles further north and the lower part can belong to the US as a 'buffer-zone', lol.

Like I said

Mexican negotiator suggests there is no need for Canada to rejoin NAFTA talks after U.S.-Mexico reach deal

Trudeau may as well dress like a Burrito because we just got screwed

Trading with the US has the advantage of lower transportation costs compared to Asia, Europe, and elsewhere. But in the end, the US has to want to trade with us too. If it doesn't want to, then yeah, let's just unilaterally drop tariffs and trade with whoever wants to trade with us.

Canada needs to focus on Canada and quit focusing on other countries.

Like it or not, Canadian consumers need access to foreign markets to access the goods we need. The Canadian population is too small for Canadian businesses to produce everything we need in small quantities in any efficient manner. It's preferable for Canadian businesses to do what they do best and export it and Canadian consumers import the best products from around the world. Businesses depend on economies of scale to keep prices low. With Canada's small economy, we can achieve that only through free trade.

For Trudeau and his girls to think that Mexico would not put their own interests first over some sort of "solidarity" with Canada is just another demonstration of their extreme naivete. Unfortunately we can expect this kind of immature behavior on the part of our govt to continue for a long time until the CPC get a much better leader and crew together.

We could become Pirates, give to the poor in spite of US sanctions. 'Bad boy' status once we sneak a million tons of wheat into Venezuela and Cube (on credit, lets not get stupid)

Trump: NAFTA trade agreement with Mexico 'looking good'

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump says the prospects are "looking good" for an agreement with Mexico that could set the stage for an overhaul of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
"A big deal looking good with Mexico!" Trump tweeted Monday morning.
U.S. and Mexican negotiators worked over the weekend to narrow their differences. Once they reach an agreement, the third country in NAFTA — Canada — would be brought back in to finalize a revamp of the 24-year-old pact.
NAFTA reduced most trade barriers between the three countries. But Trump and other critics say it encouraged U.S. manufacturers to move south of the border to exploit low-wage Mexican labor.
The Trump administration wants a higher percentage of auto production to come from within the NAFTA bloc before qualifying for duty-free status.

Just reported on the tube Canada's response is that they are in contact with the negotiations and are happy with what they hear coming out and content if they help the middle class.

A little change of tune in their progressive stance on the NAFTA file

Just reported deal is done with Mexico, Canada will now have to follow the blue print laid out

It's not a "done deal" because it takes a 90 day notice and an act of Congress to terminate NAFTA, not the ravings of a loudmouthed bully. We'll see both what Congress looks like down the road and whether the ones that are there will vote to end the deal. Trump's record at getting things through is not great.

Sorry to disappoint you. Your country has NOT been trashed ... yet. Maybe, you'll get lucky later on.
