Man caught on video riding TTC subway train with huge snake

Snake on a train!
Taking your pet on the TTC is a pretty common sight.
But a yellow boa constrictor was seen wrapped around a man riding a subway train on the Yonge-University line and shared earlier this week to social media.
“The things you see in the TTC,” wrote the person who filmed the snake’s owner and posted it to TikTok.
“The guy’s proud smirk at the end (crying emoji),” they added.
In the video, the man is standing inside the train with the snake wrapped around his body while passengers can be seen sitting nearby.
According to the TTC’s by-laws, no person shall travel on the transit system with an animal unless it is on a leash or in an enclosed container that remains secure at all times and in the person’s control and the animal “does not inconvenience or jeopardize the safety of other passengers or TTC employees.”
The man holding the snake identified himself in the video’s comments.
“Nice first post,” Matthew Genser wrote. “Remember to credit me especially when you give it to other places like Buzzfeed.”
Genser, a hairstylist, describes himself as a reptile enthusiast who also breeds and sells exotic animals.
However, other people in the comments were not as enthusiastic about the large snake on the subway.
“My fear would have me paralyzed,” shared one person.
Another said they “would have been out of there so fast” if they saw a snake riding a train.
Others said the man was using the snake a personal protection following numerous violent incidents on or near TTC property in the last year.
“The things you have to do so nobody will mess up with you when you ride the TTC,” a person commented.
