So - in a CATHOLIC school the kid says in his opinion there's only two genders and in the name of being "inclusive " he ls thrown out of school for his religions opinion and then arrested for attempting to access his education.

Because two trans people disagree with him. Apparently because it's now illegal to have a religions belief. In a catholic school.

I'm not catholic, nor do i have much affection for that religion, but this is wrong.

Honestly - this is fast becoming an 'us vs them' thing to the point where the trans (and by association the gays lesbians and other lettered people who have tied their wagons to the trans cause) are working hard to create the next version of Hitler. Kids today will be raised to believe that the LBGQ community is out to harm them if they don't bow to them, and if they don't want to be gay or trans or whatever they are bad people and it's ok to harm them and hurt their future. And someone is going to exploit that

That ends one way - sooner or later the hatred of that boils up and explodes and the backlash becomes brutal and unreasonable. And it will spill over to other groups who aren't even involved. And we get what we've seen in the past, a gross overcorrection and some horrible person will rise to power on it just as the worst dictators in the past have.

Violence against the gay and trans communities will continue to go up and up thanks to this regressive and hate filled abuse of power. This hatred of anyone different than themselves has got to stop or it will end badly for our country.

Of course - by suggesting the hatred and intolerance should stop I'm probably breaking the law. In their minds.

Well, he's wrong, as are most religious opinions, there are more than two genders, but suspension and arrest for denying it is way over the top. By that logic we should arrest everybody with religious opinions that offend any of the over-sensitive snowflakes out there. I'm finding it all a bit tiresome, and I tend to agree with you, it's likely to be dangerous too. If you can't offend anyone, you can't say anything at all, and that's a quick and slippery slope to Hell.

Do you know the difference between a Catholic High School and a Public High School?

Nothing. The is nothing different beyond 1 hr of religious studies once a week.

If you can't offend anyone you can't even mentally explore things. You can't have a meaningful conversation unless you're willing to risk offense and being offended. It's necessary for any intelligent conversation about anything important.

I think they do have religious services in the school as well, and there's a mandatory course called Christian Ethics, which based on my childrens' experience with it is rather silly. It has no academic standing really, it has no value to any post-secondary institution as an entrance requirement and is not part of the curriculum mandated by the Dept. of Education, but you can't graduate without it. My son, possibly the worst student in the history of civilization, never saw a kid who hated high school like he did, actually failed it the first time, which takes a major effort to avoid making any effort at all. Quite an accomplishment. As an unrepentant old atheist, I was almost proud of him. Did him no long term harm either, he's quite successful now.
No, there isn't. There's two genders and 21 different kinds of queers.
I disagree. I'd argue that all the people represented by that ever-growing acronym 2SLGBTQwhatever, are different genders, but I suppose it could depend on how one defines gender. According to Wikipedia, "Gender includes the social, psychological, cultural and behavioral aspects of being a man, woman, or other gender identity." Thus heterosexuals, homosexuals, bisexuals, transsexuals, etc., are all different genders.

Neither of those statements can be held to be true without looking at the definition of "gender". And there we have a problem.

What does "gender" actually mean? Sex is a little easier, despite the fact that the left often tries to twist it, it's pretty straight forward and everyone understand it refers to the role played in reproduction.

But gender is being thrown around to have many different meanings.

Look it up using the online dictionaries and you get a vast array of similar yet very different definitions. It's based on sex, no it's just a label, it's arbitrary, it may be based on societal views of what is masculine or feminine (which have their own definition problems). It's Male or Female - no it's male female or neuter - no, neuter is the absence of gender.

And when they try to get into a THIRD gender (other than neutral) it gets so vague as to be utterly meaningless. So what is this 'additional' gender or genders that religions supposedly recognize?

So the kid is not "wrong". You would have to know which definition of gender he was using. It's not that clear cut.

In my four years we only had mass once and that was when someone died. Ethics was a chit chat class with no standing on grades.

If you aren’t satisfied with the quality or curriculum at a school why would you pay to have your children enrolled there ?

Ha! Snuck that in while i was still typing :) Of course you're correct there.

According to Wikipedia, "Gender includes the social, psychological, cultural and behavioral aspects of being a man, woman, or other gender identity." Thus heterosexuals, homosexuals, bisexuals, transsexuals, etc., are all different genders.
Are they tho? Lets unpack that.
"Other" doesn't give us much to work with. That could mean anything or nothing. But it would be logical to say that because it's held seperately from men or women 'genders' it must not be either of those.

So - a homosexual is considered to be a man who prefers sexual and committed partnerships with men. (or woman and woman etc). Being attracted to men is considered to be a feminine trait. Having committed permanent relatinoships or sex is a normal part of male or female genders. So - there's no 'different gender' there, we're still dealing with male and female characteristics.

Trans people are in the same boat - they simply have male or female gender characteristics which don't match their biological sex. So.... where's the 'new' gender there? A man who dresses up like a woman, does their best to transition into a woman, and lives as a woman is expressing a... you guessed it... female gender. Not a new hitheroto undiscovered gender.

Etc etc. All we're talking about is people having things from the female gender pile and things from the male. No 'new' gender. No 'other'.

At best you could say that we've learned that while sex is sort of a linear single issue thing gender is more like a mixer on a stereo, where you might have the treble adjusted a litlte differently or the base adjusted a little differently, but it's all still just playing with treble and base. So we could say that there's just two 'tone' elements, treble and base and every song is made up of variations on those elements.

But -go ahead and show me what "aspect" mentioned above is neither male or female (or neuter i guess).

Cost is the same regardless of whether the children go to a public or separate school. We opted for the latter because based on our examination of the schools available to our children the separate school we deemed to have better teachers, better student/teacher ratio, and better administration, so were prepared to tolerate a bit of foolishness along with it. And it did provide lots of opportunities for discussions with the children, never a bad thing. I vividly recall my daughter coming to me once with a homework assignment from the Christian Ethics class, and when I asked her what was troubling her about it she hemmed and hawed a bit and finally burst out with "It's so STUPID!" I could only agree. So I gave her Bertrand Russell's little book Why I Am Not a Christian to study, which led to a lot of conversation.

Gender's not a binary either/or thing, it's a continuum with the binary extremes at each end, that's the only point I was trying to make. And there are androgynous people with no apparent sexuality at all, neuter.

Then advertising it is unnecessary.
Agreed, it's of no interest or concern to me what anyone's sexual preferences are, unless I'm interested in having sex with them. Then it would be helpful if they were also interested in me that way, but if not, well... story of my life lately. :(
