A man has been shot dead by police in London after reports he was armed with a crossbow and trying to force his way inside a home.
The capital's Metropolitan Police said armed officers were called to the house in Surrey Quays, Southwark, just before 05:00 on 30th January.
Fatal police shootings are very rare in the United Kingdom - there was just 1 in 2023.
British police officers don't generally carry firearms but all have firearms units that are called out to deal with terrorists and the very rare incident of a criminal using a firearm.
