Scotland 1-3 England

England, ranked 4th in the world, put Scotland to the sword at Hampden Park in Glasgow tonight in a "friendly" match to mark the 150th anniversary of the first match between the two great footballing rivals - the two oldest international football teams in the world.

The world's first international football match was a 0-0 draw between Scotland and England at the West of Scotland Cricket Club in Glasgow in November 1872.

They also make some of the best booze on the planet. And some of the worst. Teacher’s Highland Cream and Johnny Walker Red are uniquely awful, but I can forgive that for an 18 year old Glenmorangie and the Macallan.

Yes, you do have to go there, but fortunately it's a great place to visit. Of all the places I've been as a tourist or business traveler, Scotland is the place that felt most comfortable and familiar to me. Might be genetic, a large fraction of my ancestors came from there. Highland clearances and all that...

Same for me. Congenial, curious, welcoming people. The fish and chips is amazing.

England destroyed Scotland AGAIN?

What do y'all have against the Scots? They're funny!

England just has a history of being a lot bigger than Scotland. It's similar to USA over Canada. Nowadays, though, the England Vs Scotland skirmishes are just minor affairs on a sporting field due to the two nations now being part of the same country.

My Scottish grandfather loved drinking Bell's whisky with the Scottish soft drink Irn Bru ("Iron Brew") mixed with it. You can hardly get more Scottish than that.

Even though I'm English and my dad is English, my mum is Scottish. Because of that I would be eligible to play for either England or Scotland if I was a footballer.
